About me

Hello, my name is Rachele Allmon and I am currently an aspiring computer science major. I have worked in vocational education for 25 years and have taught many students the value of a hard days work in many different areas of skill development. I am currently in a computer technology class and I have finally found my own dreams. I have earned four Google certificates through Coursera and I hope to pursue many more. My goal is to be able to use all the skills I am learning to start my own business in the future. I would also like to do some freelance work for small and large businesses. My husbands love for hunting has inspired this blog but, I hope to create many more.

Her first Deer

He loves his little hunting partner. He guided her to her first deer. She was pretty proud of herself. She is now 19 and more interested in her own life but they have memories to look back on together and I have many pictures to hang on the walls.

Nevada Bound in the New Trailer

I thought he was leaving on Saturday but as always he is too tired from working right up to the minute he had to leave for his hunting trip. The older we get the harder it gets to work and hunt back to back. I will probably go back in this blog and tell the stories of the old days of a bucket of chicken, tennis shoes, and sleeping in the truck hunting trips. Whatever it takes to get to your deer. This is a picture of the upgrade he made to the mattress on the floor of the Hobo Habitat. Happy hunting and maybe fly fishing too!

The Beginning

I didn’t know I was dating a hunter whose hobby would evolve into an obsession. He was in his 3rd year of college when I met him. He liked to eat, sleep and go to the gym. He had been a hunter from the time he could hold a slingshot. His patience was beyond measure. His mother said he would lay in the kitchen floor for hours waiting for a mouse to poke its head out so he could shoot it. He thought the best part of Christmas was the anticipation of waiting. I personally don’t have that kind of patience and still don’t understand why anyone would want to wait like that. It was a skill honed over a lifetime. I appreciate it now on the other end of thirty years. His patience has rewarded us all. We have had meat in our freezer and a roof over our heads for many years. We are doing well and our only complaint is abundance. I am going to share our Journey of Food Deer Love because I am a very proud woman that wants to show her daughter and the world that patience and hard work pays off. We are blessed.

2021 Deer Season

This is the beginning of the Hobo Habitat Cargo trailer remodel featured in the opening pages. He is determined to go hunting every year whether it be in a tent or the back of his truck with a bucket of chicken wearing sneakers instead of boots. He is a handyman by trade to say the least. His sense of style is very practical. It was 90 degrees during this hunting trip and he slept outside under a tree in between dawn and dusk. All hunters know that early in the morning and later in the evening are the best times to hunt. It was cold at night so it was pretty cozy considering it was like a tomb with no windows. Whatever it takes!!!

The season really starts when he is on his way home from the last one. The antlers or horns are in the truck, the meat is in the ice chest and his heart is already into the next season of hunting. This is why I call it an obsession. I begged for some vacation time with him and he said, “you could just go with me!” Maybe I will just spend more time with my friends and my daughter if he doesn’t talk her into going. We are about a week away from our staycation while he goes on his quest for the 202Nevada . I sold our trailer in April to buy a bigger one but we can’t find the one we want so he dumped everything out of our cargo trailer and turned it into a new hunting trailer. The “Hobo Habitat” is the new name for the cargo trailer with a twin mattress, an ice chest, an old recliner and everything he can run on batteries. He is quite excited about his hillbilly creation and I have to say it is quite a chuckle to see. Whatever it takes, right!
